Sometimes I wish I didn't get so much news as it includes all the devastation reports around the world and right now there are so many and it breaks my heart that I can't help each person involved in each disaster. Yes, I'm realistic and know that's impossible but doesn't make me wish for more. Where are the billionaires with the ability to help? Are they using their money to help others or make more money, while making themselves ill? I don't have the answers just questions!

Hardening of the Arteries: Double drug therapy is more dangerous

Doctors regularly prescribe aspirin with an anti-coagulant such as warfarin in order to control hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis), where plaque builds up around the main artery walls.

In fact it's the 'gold standard' therapy approved by eminent bodies such as the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association - and it's an approach that is putting the patient's life at risk.

The aspirin on its own is enough to help prevent the build-up of blood clots, and the anti-coagulant merely increases the risk of life-threatening bleeding, new research has found.

The anti-coagulant increased the risk around three times, investigators from the WAVE (Warfarin Antiplatelet Vascular Evaluation) trial report.

They monitored the progress of 2,161 atherosclerosis patients who were given either the combination drug therapy of aspirin plus warfarin, or aspirin on its own.

While rates of death were similar in both groups, those who were also given warfarin were far more likely to suffer life-threatening bleeding during the three years they took the drugs.

I am not going to include an environmental report today, as it would just seem like rubbing salt in wounds, with all the disasters occurring around the world...

Deadly earthquake with after shocks that are really earthquakes up to 5.0 that is terrorizing the thousands of homeless in Peru. Other quakes in the Philippines, Brazil and Africa along with hurricanes that are devastating the Caribbean and Mexico with more to follow before the season is over. Then there is the Typhoon in Taiwan. More places that needs our help so remember when crises requests come your way!
