The middle of the week and I'm typing my fingers off to finish
the new informative health ebook you will be able to get free in just a

I do not wish to alienate anyone and I know it's suicide to speak on
politics in public, (this is public) but I just have to make some
comments on the last two political debates. First debate found a very
professional knowledgeable and forthright person on the podium and it
wasn't the incumbent. Last nights debate of our current vice-president
and possible new vice-president found a very strong, educated and well
informed person against a very confused and un-vice-presidential blank
looking, innuendo spouting, brain on hold incumbent. Over the years I
watched people who had open heart surgeries search for parts of their
brain and a lot even told me they would never have gone through with it
had they known their brain wouldn't have the proper function afterward
so I've always said this VP isn't playing with a full deck after so many
open heart surgeries. I must say VP Cheney was right on Monday when he
said Senator Edwards is a Master Litigator! I'm convinced "Truer Words"
were never spoken, the Senator had his facts and figures in place, as I
have found them to be, and just the person we need these days to calm
down the UN and countries that are no longer our allies but became our
opposition when we alienated them and went to war with Iraq. I found the
innuendos from the VP to be embarrassing and showing that he has no
facts or figures to back them up... The Bible says, "No man is and
island unto himself," and that goes for a country as well, which our
current administration apparently has never read or they would try
harder at being a friend and ally to other countries and not the bully
on the playground. We also need someone who understands the problems
that exist in our grossly overburdened medical world these days and it
seems that the other side does. We, more than anything else, need
someone who will listen too all, not just those with money interests or
that tells them what they want to hear, and work for changes that
doesn't benefit the big business and drug industries. I think I see
those qualities in the aspiring president and aspiring vice-president.
My Republican party has let me down and changed so drastically on all
the important areas of health, the environment, domestic and foreign
policy and world wide peace efforts, that I do
not recognize them nor do I feel justified in letting them continue
ruining our country! So my vote will be against my own party this year,
sorry but if they wish to come back to the values they once had I'll
reconsider it but I am not seeing it now nor have I seen it in the last
four years!

Britain Suspends Flu Vaccine Maker
Tuesday October 5, 11:41 AM EDT
LONDON (Reuters) - Britain suspended on Tuesday the manufacturing
license of Chiron Corp., a major supplier of flu vaccine to the United
Kingdom and the United States, for three months.
"Its license has been suspended for three months because of problems
with the manufacturing process," said a spokeswoman at the Department of
Health.
The suspension takes effect immediately.
Chiron, the maker of Fluvirin, manufactures nearly half the U.S. supply
of influenza vaccine and is one of six manufacturers that supply the
United Kingdom with the vaccine.
None of Chiron's flu vaccine had reached the general public, the
spokeswoman said.
Shares in Novartis, which owns about 40 percent of Chiron, slipped
almost one percent in an otherwise flat Swiss market.
The Department of Health said the suspension would not impact a flu
campaign that is under way in Britain since additional doses were being
brought in from other suppliers.
"By the end of October we should have all the extra doses in place," the
spokeswoman said.
Earlier this year, Chiron said it would delay shipment of Fluvirin
because lots containing 4 million doses did not meet sterility
standards. The company halted production while it explored the cause of
the contamination.

Acetaminophen Use Linked to Asthma

A six-year follow-up study of participants in the Nurses Health Study
has shown that greater use of the analgesic acetaminophen was associated
with an increased rate of new diagnosis of adult-onset asthma. The
finding was reported in the April 1, 2004, issue of the American Journal
of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
Acetaminophen is often taken instead of aspirin because it has fewer
gastrointestinal side effects. However, the study's authors say that
acetaminophen increases glutathione levels in the lung, which can
predispose people to oxidative injury and bronchospasm. Among the 299
newly diagnosed cases of asthma in the Nurses Health Study, 108 used no
acetaminophen, 112 used it from one to four times a month, 41 used it
five to 14 times a month, 16 used it 15-21 times per month, and 22 used
it more than 22 times a month,
The investigators also noted that acetaminophen-related bronchospasm had
been demonstrated in some patients who had no history of
aspirin-sensitive asthma. The study was conducted by researchers at the
Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University (New York, NY,
USA), and the Harvard School of Public Health (Boston, MA, USA; ).

Algae As A Food?
This is a strange food, but an excellent and important health building

treatment of infections and tumors. Chlorella facilitates the
production of Interleukin 1 (Interleukin 1 alpha form). IL1 is an
important risk factor prevention in heart disease. Also in a number of
laboratory and animal research findings suggest that the algae may have
some anticancer properties. One investigation concluded that a
protein extract from one type of chlorella prevented the spread of
cancer cells in mice. Another study in mice suggested that the
extract reduced the side effects of chemotherapy treatment without
affecting the potency of anticancer medications.
Chlorella was discovered in the late 19th century. Due to its high
protein concentration and rapid growth rate, chlorella was investigated
after World War II as a possible commercial food source that never
really took off. In the 1950s, researchers first reported that chlorella
prevented the development of liver disease in mice. A decade later, some
investigators claimed that the algae decreased the side effects of
chemotherapy and slowed the growth of some cancer cells. Most of the
research has been conducted in Japan, where chlorella is a top-selling
dietary supplement. Chlorella farms - closed systems that provide humans
with food, water, and oxygen - have been established in the U.S., Japan,
The Netherlands, Germany, and Israel.

Is Salt Free Smart?
Hypertensive (high blood pressure) people are being told to stop
salt intake. Is it the salt or something else creating their
hypertension? Maybe and maybe not!
In past societies salt was valuable for its health properties
but that was before modern processing.
Salt was used as currency during the Roman rule. Roman soldiers
were paid in salt. The Latin word sal is the root for the
English word salary. Based on this, I'm sure you have heard the
familiar phrase that a person is "worth their salt", meaning
worth the wages they receive.
Real non-chemicalized salt intake is absolutely necessary to
survival.
Our medical world continues telling people that their blood
pressure problem can be eliminated by using salt substitutes.
Now an eight-year study of a New York City's hypertensive
population found those on low-salt diets had more than four
times as many heart attacks as those on normal-sodium diets -
the exact opposite of what the "salt hypothesis" predicted.
(1995) What they didn't study was the salt substitutes and how
they fit into the equation! Hence we don't have the complete
picture.
Our regular table salt no longer has anything in common with the
original crystal salt. Salt these days is mainly sodium chloride
and not salt. The common commercial table salt used by most
people for cooking has only 2 or 3 chemical elements. Seawater
has 84 chemical elements that was originally found in salt.
Our body requires those 84 elements for total health. A healthy
body's blood plasma consists of those very same 84 elements
identical to seawater.
Common table salt consumed by most is deficit of 81 elements and
containing byproducts from the processing, which means our body
is becoming weaker, imbalanced and more susceptible to diseases.
Table salt produced by the early pioneers was of excellent
quality and contained those unadulterated elements. But man
looked for something more
convenient and ended up decimating salt's true elements.
Real Kosher salt is an additive-free coarse-grained salt, used
by Jews in the preparation of meat. It is also used by gourmet
cooks who prefer its texture and flavor.
While most salts start out as salt, they don't always end up
that way. Normal table salt begins as a saline solution. Then
after processing and kiln drying at temperatures in excess of
400 degrees, its natural state is changed and nearly all trace
minerals are lost. Then processing chemicals are added such as
Silico Aluminate, Potassium Iodide, Tri-calcium Phosphate,
Magnesium Carbonate, Sodium bicarbonate, and yellow prussiate of
soda just to name a few. These are added to bleach the salt,
prevent caking, and aid in free-flowing so your salt will flow
free even on rainy days. But what are they doing to your body?
The funny thing is that the Food & Drug Administration usually
lets companies leave their processing aides off of their
ingredient lists, as long as the material is being used in a
small-enough concentration.
Did you know that two of the inorganic chemicals used in
processing salt is also used to make many consumer related
products, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic?
Other additives are anti-caking agents such as calcium silicate,
magnesium carbonate, calcium carbonate, and other compounds.
They are insoluble in water, which not only prevents them from
forming clumps in humid environments (thus keeping the soluble
crystals of sodium chloride separate), but also explains why
water becomes slightly cloudy when salt with these additives is
dissolved in it. These are all odorless and flavorless
substances and contribute nothing to our body but what do they
do once inside our body? We can only guess as studies have not
been done to tell us?
Are salt substitutes better? Salt substitutes are supposed to be
free of sodium but are they?
Some are and some aren't but all have potassium chloride, which
is dangerous to the very ones who seem to be consuming it for
health reasons. Salt free diets are usually recommended to those
who have hypertension and/or heart problems. Making this
dangerous to the very ones who are taking heart and hypertension
medications in conjunction with the salt substitute.
Listed below are the top salt substitutes and the amounts of
potassium and sodium in each.
*No Salt -- 1/4 tsp.: 650 mg. Potassium/0 mg. sodium
*Morton's Lite Salt -- 1/4 tsp.: 350 mg. Potassium/290
mg. sodium
*Morton's Salt Substitute -- 1/4 tsp.: 610 mg. Potassium/
0 mg. sodium
*Cardia Salt Alternative -- 1/4 tsp.: 180 mg. Potassium/
270 mg. Sodium
As you can see Potassium chloride is a common ingredient in salt
substitutes. Too much potassium can be harmful if you have
kidney problems or you're taking certain medications to treat
high blood pressure or heart failure. Potassium-sparing diuretic
drugs causes your kidneys to retain potassium. Just about every
person with hypertension or certain heart diseases is given a
diuretic drug! If you take a potassium-sparing diuretic and use
a salt substitute containing potassium, too much potassium can
build up in your body. Possible side effects include potentially
life-threatening kidney failure and/or heart rhythm disturbances
and even death.
If you wish to use a salt substitute make your own!
Savory Salt Substitute
1 tbsp. black pepper
1 tbsp. celery seeds
1 tbsp. onion powder
2 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp. powdered orange peel
1 1/2 tsp. arrowroot
1 1/2 tsp. sugar or sugar substitute
3/4 tsp. sour salt (powdered citric acid)
1/2 tsp. white pepper
1/2 tsp. dill weed
1/2 tsp. dried thyme, crumbled
1/4 tsp. plus a pinch of powdered lemon peel
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Place all the ingredients in a small electric coffee grinder,
spice grinder or blender.
Grind for 10 seconds or until the mixture is fine.
Insert a funnel in the top of a glass salt shaker, pour the
mixture into it and tap the funnel lightly to fill the shaker.
Cover the rest of the mixture tightly and store it in a cool,
dark, dry place.
Makes about 1/2 cup.

SEATTLE (AP) - A toxic algae bloom off the coast of Washington state has
grown to about 30 miles wide, the largest and most potentially lethal
algae yet found by scientists in the region.
The algae, about 15 miles from the coast, can release potentially deadly
domoic acid, which accumulates in the tissue of clams and other
shellfish and, if ingested by humans, attacks areas in the brain
responsible for learning and memory.
The algae should not pose any danger if it remains afloat away from the
shore, but researchers said Tuesday they are concerned the bloom could
eventually wash onto land.
"Within the next week, if there's a major storm, it's possible it might
hit the beach," said Barbara Hickey, a University of Washington
oceanographer.
Fair weather could reduce the bloom and help prevent the algae from
approaching land, Hickey added.
State officials test coastal waters twice a week for domoic acid, and
satellites are being used to track the algae for any movement toward the
coast, scientists said.
"We'll have enough early warning to know for sure that the (shellfish)
resource is safe to dig," said Vera Trainer, of the Northwest Fisheries
Science Center.
This is the second year that scientists have tested the algae bloom.
Concentrations of the poisonous algae are as high as 11 million cells
per liter, compared with about 200,000 cells per liter last year,
scientists said.
For centuries, occasional "red tides" have occurred along the Pacific
coast, but for unknown reasons, the colorful blooms of poisonous algae
became a significant problem starting in the late 1980s.
