He also said; "EVERYONE HAS A DOCTOR IN HIM OR HER; WE JUST HAVE TO HELP IN ITS WORK. THE NATURAL HEALING FORCE WITHIN EACH OF US IS THE GREATEST FORCE IN GETTING WELL." Is this what your doctor tells you? He taught that; "AS TO DISEASE, MAKE A HABIT OF TWO THINGS - TO HELP, OR AT LEAST, TO DO NO HARM." Is our cut/burn/kill-the-immune-system treatments following his guidelines? NO! Those statements have been lost to medicine and it's time to revive them and take charge of your health especially with the cost of modern traditional medicine today and rising as I write... Thomas Edison made statements that sadly have not come to be in modern tradition medicine; "THE DOCTOR OF THE FUTURE WILL GIVE NO MEDICINE (DRUGS) BUT WILL INTEREST HIS PATIENTS IN THE CARE OF THE HUMAN FRAME IN DIET AND IN THE CAUSE AND PREVENTION OF DISEASE. THE PHYSICIAN OF TOMORROW WILL BE THE NUTRITIONIST OF TODAY." How far in the future? So long as the drug industry runs the traditional medical world that will not be! Not in my lifetime do I see it happening... Sadly both men did not take into account the way man would destroy the earth and deplete the foods of the nutrients our body needs to be healthy, so today supplementing minerals and vitamins is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!

Diagnostics: They're wrong, inaccurate or just too late

Doctors have become increasingly reliant on high-tech diagnostic equipment, but it's so inaccurate or used so badly that it accounts for 59 per cent of all insurance claims against doctors. Of these, 30 per cent of patients died as a result of a delayed or wrong diagnosis.

Out-patient diagnostics that harm - or kill - the patient are common, a study that analyzed the results from four US insurers concluded.

Sadly, the doctor can't blame it all on computer technology. Claimants complained that doctors failed to take a proper history and examination, ordered the wrong test, or didn't follow-up properly. In all, 99 per cent of all claimants said, as part of their claim, that doctors were not thinking straight, or were making bad decisions, or forgetting things or "not knowing them in the first place".

The diagnostic process sometimes stretched into years, and involved a range of healthcare staff. The most likely to suffer from diagnostic failures were people with breast or colorectal cancer, whose illness was invariably not detected in time, if at all.

Cancer Pressure Group: Another front for a drug company

Things aren't quite as they seem at cancer pressure group Cancer United, which is being launched today in Brussels. It describes itself as a pioneering coalition of doctors, nurses and patients, pushing for equal access to cancer care throughout Europe.
However, it is merely a front for drug giant Roche, which makes Herceptin, the new breast cancer 'wonder drug', and Avastin, researchers have claimed.

The drug company is funding the coalition, a senior company executive sits on Cancer United's board, and its secretariat is Weber Shandwick, the drug company's PR agency.

Several MEPs and the head of the European Cancer Patients Coalition have already stepped down from United's board as they were concerned about the funding arrangements.

At the heart of the new group's campaign is a controversial study that has come up with dubious results. It also happens to have been funded by Roche.

Still, if it keeps the Herceptin bandwagon rolling. . .

Health Care Costs Could Jump 10 Percent

NEW YORK (AP) - Health care costs could rise more than 10 percent in 2007, unless companies change their plans, according to a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

"What the insurers are projecting is double-digit increases if you don't do anything," said Michael Thompson, a principal at PWC. "Many employers, most employers, are doing something."

Employers are already changing employees' benefit packages, shifting more costs to employees or pushing employees to participate in health and wellness programs, according to the report, based on a survey of health insurance carriers, the firm's own research and government data.

For 2007, costs for preferred provider organizations, are expected to rise 11.9 percent. Under preferred provider, or PPO plans, patients are offered a network of providers. Patients who select providers outside the network will pay more for their care.

Costs for health maintenance organizations, are expected to rise 11.8 percent. Under HMO plans, coverage is provided if patients stay in the network.

Costs for "consumer-driven plans," in which patients pay high deductibles, are offered a tax-protected health savings account and take on more of the direct costs of their care, are expected to rise 10.7 percent. Only 3 million Americans currently have such plans, compared to 240 million in other private plans, according to the report.

Actual premium increases could vary depending on changes employers make to their plans, the report said.

American workers have been shielded from the rising cost of health care for decades, with the burden of rising medical costs borne largely by employers and the government, according to the report. Americans spent six percent of their personal budgets on medical costs in 1960, the same percentage of consumer spending as in 2004, it said.

Both the government and employers are now asking consumers to shoulder more responsibility for their own health, and more of the costs of insurance, in an attempt to curb rising spending levels.

Vortex of garbage threatens sea life

Old toothbrushes, beach toys and used condoms are part of a vast vortex of trash in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, threatening sea creatures that get tangled in it, eat it or ride on it, a report by the environmental group Greenpeace says. Ocean currents and tides have carried plastic items thousands of miles to an area between Hawaii and the U.S. West Coast, the study found. This swirling vortex can grow to be about the size of Texas.

Here in the middle of the Pacific, plastic marine debris is a harsh reality that marine creatures large and small have to live with. ... we're getting a very clear picture of how our lives on land are helping to destroy life at sea.
