At the 2004 European Geriatrics Congress in Vienna, Professor Ingo Fusgen of the Department of Geriatrics at Germany's University of Witten-Herdecke presented research showing that as much as 10 percent of seniors may suffer from hyponatraemia (low blood levels of sodium).

Hyponatraemia often goes undiagnosed because symptoms are so similar to some of the conditions that we associate with aging, such as fatigue, poor concentration, confusion, poor balance, and incontinence. When hyponatraemia becomes pronounced, hallucinations and even coma may result.

Prof. Fusgen also reported that 80 percent of the elderly subjects in his research told him they avoided salt based on the popular misconception that salt intake causes high blood pressure (HBP).

In a press release, Prof. Fusgen stated that many otherwise healthy older people might be in danger simply because of the widespread belief that a low-salt diet is healthy.

Conventional Prostate Treatment Is Worse Than the Disease!

Don't sign that surgical consent form without trying a healthy treatment!

If you have benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) you doctor will probably want to schedule a surgical procedure called trans-urethral resection of the prostate (TURP). If you have elevated PSA (prostate specific antigen) you will probably be talked into a needle biopsy for cancer.

Don't sign that consent form until you have all the information needed to make an informed consent!

Dr. John Weinburg of the Dartmouth Medical School says, over 32,000 American men are hospitalized with complications AFTER the TURP surgery. 20,000 become impotent AFTER the TURP. 80,000 will need a second surgery AFTER the TURP and 7,000 men actually die on the operating table DURING a TURP surgery!

All the while studies have shown that needle biopsies may actually contribute to the SPREAD OF CANCER cells previously confined to the prostate. The least you might expect is a chronic infection following the needle biopsy.

Even though the ads for Proscar and Hytrin tell you they work, truth is they don't work as well as they try to convince you they do. In fact, the majority of studies on Proscar have shown NO IMPROVEMENT among the users. The drug side effects are, impotence, liver damage and men who take Proscar can't engage in sex with a woman who wishes to have children, since any second-hand exposure to this drug can easily cause birth defects. You say well only old men need to take it anyway. WRONG, BPH has fast become prevalent in the 30 something group of men!

CT Scans: They are responsible for 2 per cent of all cancers

CT (computed tomography) scans are the cause of up to 2 per cent of all cancers. The effect could be far worse among children, who are more sensitive to irradiation.

The scans, which seem to especially cause cancers of the lungs and colon, produce a radiation dose similar to that of the atom bombs that were dropped over Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

Each scan produces a radiation dose of around 15 mSv in an adult, and 30 mSv in a newborn child, and as standard treatment is for two to three scans, the overall dose reaches 45 mSv. Survivors of Nagasaki and Hiroshima were exposed to doses slightly below 50 mSv.

Around 11 per cent of all CT scans are carried out on children to determine if they have appendicitis, and researchers fear that, even if they do not develop cancer immediately, they are still at greater risk as adults as their radiation load continues to increase.

In the US alone, 62 million scans are performed every year, mainly to check on seizures, chronic headaches and trauma, an extraordinary increase since 1980 when just 3 million scans were performed.

Researchers from Columbia University Medical Center in New York base their cancer estimates on radiation exposure from survivors of the atomic bomb blasts, and from a major study into the health of 400,000 workers in the nuclear industry.

They also reckon that up to a third of all CT scans are unnecessary or could be replaced by safer technology such as ultrasound.

If that's so, it means that 20 million adults and 1 million children are unnecessarily irradiated every year in the US ? and also being exposed to the risk of cancer.

Emission Cuts Debated at Climate Summit

BALI, Indonesia (AP) - Delegates at the U.N. climate conference struggled to agree Tuesday on whether they will call on rich nations to cut greenhouse gas emissions by specific amounts, and the U.N. chief warned that the human race faces oblivion if it fails to confront global warming.

Ban Ki-moon, who is presiding over the final days of a conference aimed at setting an agenda and deadline for talks on a pact to replace the Kyoto Protocol in 2012, urged quick action as negotiators haggled over wording that would be acceptable to all.
