Summer at the beach
Or winter fun on the ski slopes in the snow, any
place in the world!
Did you know sun in the summer or
winter can be a healthy advantage to your life or it can be an unhealthy
enemy. Healthy and unhealthy both are determined by how you utilize it.
Read on to find the secrets to a healthy happy summer at the beach, ball
park or BBQ in the back yard, skiing on those slopes in the winter cold
sun.
The sun is necessary to help us absorb calcium and minerals...But no
more than 15 to 20 minutes a day is required to help the absorption. It is
also needed to give us a feeling of well being and health, oxygenate our
lungs and a host of other things. People who consistently are inside and
never get outside have all kinds of health problems due to the immune system
being out of sink...Just don't overdue it in the sun!
Noted scientists say that chemicals and artificial ingredients will harm
the body, especially with prolonged use. Can you trust the safety of
over-the-counter labels? The news media recently had several articles
covering the chemicals in our body care products which include sun
screens and tanning products along with body lotions... Find out what
chemicals do to you by clicking on this link

Snow skiers tend to forget about sun protection since it is cold and
wintry but the rays reflecting off the snow is just as detrimental to
your health in the winter as sunburn and dry cracking skin occurs
just as fast from the reflections off the snow!
SUN PROTECTION ADVICE
-
The American Cancer Society
says that 80% of the suns cumulative damage occurs before the age of
20. One serious sunburn as a child doubles your chances of
developing skin cancer later in life. I am one of those statistics
but didn't realize it until I had squameous cell carcinoma of the
face. Yes I received a severe sunburn as a teenager.
-
Replenish your skin with
natural sun protection lotions or gels.
Studies
have shown that the creams, shampoos and topical ointments we
put on our bodies are wreaking havoc with our hormonal and immune
systems that in turn cause cancer and other illnesses.
-
Most sun screens, tanning
lotions and self tanning ointments contain harmful man-made
chemicals.. Go for the natural healthy alternatives!
-
Premature aging is another
hazard of chemicals. You may think you are being adequately
protected with over the counter sun care products but in fact are
adding to your problem...to prevent that from happening to you, make
sure you buy natural botanical sun care products....
-
Apply sun care ointments or
lotions before leaving home. This is done to prevent burning that
occurs with initial exposure to the suns' rays and afford maximum
protection when applying sun screen. The higher the SPF the better.
-
Calculate the amount of
"SAFE' time you can spend in the sun. This is done by
multiplying the SPF number on your screen by 15 to calculate the
number of minutes you can stay in the sun before burning.
-
Winter or summer sun
protection is vital. Use a sun screen with no less than and SPF of
15, according to the American Cancer Society, both summer and
winter. If you are going to stay out doors longer buy a higher SPF
rating!
-
Because skin cancers are
linked to repeated sun exposure. It is largely preventable
with sun screens along with staying out of the sun from the hours of
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. when possible.
-
Remember that the sun's rays
can reach you through a car windshield, clouds and three feet of
water or on the ski slopes, rays are reflected off the snow in the
winter.
TANNING BED VS SUN BATHING
Many of you head to the tanning
beds for a "jump-start" on your summer tan or maintain your
summer tan. Yet this may be the worst thing you can do. Tanning beds may
seem like a good alternative to sunbathing, but here are some facts for
you to consider:
-
Tanning beds emit only
ultraviolet-A (UVA) rays. UVA produces a deeper penetrating
radiation. 30 minutes of UVA exposure equals four or five days in
the sun.
-
Tanning bed UVA rays are at
least two times stronger than those UVA rays produced by the midday
sun. UVA is 1000 times less effective at causing burns than UVB
rays, but UVA causes deeper radiation and slow burns.
-
Sunlight emits both UVA and
UVB rays. UVB rays cause burning. UVA rays penetrate and cause more
permanent damage, aging, deep wrinkling, loss of elasticity, skin
sagging, and blood vessel damage.
-
For healthier skin without the
above problems use effective Natural Botanical Sunless Tanning
Lotion without chemicals.
