Press releases provide an effective way of announcing interesting, important and unique news about your company. However, it is essential to remember that what is important to you is not necessarily important to the world.

A well-crafted, target market oriented press release captures the attention of journalists as well as others who matter and can give your business a tremendous boost.

The following are three tactics that will guarantee your press releases' success.

1) Offer something valuable for free

The lure of the freebie is too powerful for most people to resist. Why not use this to your advantage and offer your customers something for nothing. Make sure what you are offering has some value to the customer; and if it can be downloaded, so much the better.

Check out these ideas for valuable giveaways:

- Offer your customers an electronic information product and place your advertisement somewhere on the product. Whether it is an autoresponder to a downloadable eBook or perhaps a simple report that's posted on your website, it is important that the information product should relate to your target audience.

- Offer potential customers the opportunity to ask you questions specific to your business. By dispensing with free advice you can prove your authority on the subject giving you instant credibility.

2) Be different - Avoid the hype and offer useful information

98% of all press releases are promotional hype. Offering your customers something different makes you stand out from the crowd and get noticed. Pay close attention to the content of your press release.

Keep these factors in mind when writing your press release:

- Make sure your content is newsworthy and not mere fluff. Your main purpose is to inform your customers about a new business development and not sound like an advertisement. Your press release should be about answering the why, who, when and where of your business and not a sales pitch telling customers why they should buy your product.

- You have but a few seconds to grab your customer's attention. Make it count with an attention grabbing headline and a strong first paragraph. You can provide the details  in the rest of the press release. Readers will continue to the end only if they like what they see in the first paragraph.

- Use your press release to illustrate real life examples about how your company helped a customer solve a problem. Identifying the problem and illustrating why your solution is the right one speaks volumes about the value of your product.

- Write a newsworthy story that any online media would love to run in their publication.

3) Look at paid PR services for the widest distribution

Paying a PR company to handle your press releases could prove to be better than handling it yourself. PR companies are more experienced and hence more adept at handling various issues.

They understand the timing of your press release, how and where to distribute it for widest coverage and will also select the best platform for reaching your target audience.

Branding Yourself For Online Longevity

Let me talk a little bit about branding yourself for online longevity. You are either going to make spurts of money, or you are going to ruin your business where you do not have longevity because of your branding. When you have a branding you develop a following of people, this is branding, you develop a following of people. They know you for one or a few specific things. Now, somebody in a situation that I have talked to about previously that hops from program to program every few months, who is a top earner or a top earner in his or her category that do this, and this has been going on for years, these types right here. And they ruin their branding, they have a following, they are doing great, but when they hop from program to program you just use the people on your list to make money, basically bringing them into another program, pay me this amount of money and just do the same thing all over again.

It is kind of like, if you want to call it a pyramid scheme, they just use people to go from program to program to develop their income for that year. And then in the future, after either a few months, a year or two, that is no longer true, because nobody will listen to them. They go from another program to another program and nobody will follow them. Word gets around online and they go to a program and start to do the marketing and nobody will listen to them. So the hundreds of thousands of dollars that they are already making is down the drain. They made that and hopefully if they are smart, the people in that category, they would have at least invested that money so that they  could have a nice return on that money since they will not be able to make that much money in the future anymore.

Second, when I say we are in a unique category it is because we are online, it is a small community, we are world wide, if you ruin your name online, you ruin your business. If you are off line in a brick and mortar business, and let us just say you were in the State of Florida and you had an insurance business. You are in the insurance business and you are doing well, but you might not have been so ethical and you somehow ruined your name around the area that you lived in. It is very simple and businesses do this all the time. They will pick up and move somewhere else, another state, another county, another city to restart their business because they have ruined their branding in the area where they live.

Most of the time local businesses are just local. If they had national campaigns going, any type of insurance company, it might be a different story. They might not be able to move around per se, unless they went to another country to regain their branding. Online you cannot do that. Once you ruin your name, once you ruin your branding, it is done. Now specifically to this home based business industry, the mlm industry, if a person knows anything about affiliate marketing, they can probably do affiliate marketing because affiliate marketing does not require a big branding or much at all.

Affiliate marketing itself is just marketing some other company's product, could be a health product, a service, an ebook from another website, they fulfill the order, emarket it and your name does not really have anything to do in the order of things. You just do some marketing and they go to the website, the website closes them and you make the money. That site provides customer service and that is it. That is why I love affiliate marketing because you can make a lot of money and you do not have to provide any customer service. It is up to the company where they bought the product from and it is a really cool thing. If that person does not do that, or if they want to make some money in the adsense area or other little things like that, they can probably do that. But their name is no good in this industry anymore.
