I've chosen to write today's coach article as I am continuing to run into problems with people submitting ads and I'm sure they are not receiving returns on them. I've taken the liberty to outline those problems that I run into with the hope that you will see yourself and take corrective actions. I'm sorry if your ad did not receive the answers you had hoped but check them carefully before submitting!

The CAN-SPAM act..

1) Prohibits using or falsifying email header
information.

2) Prohibits the use of open relay to "deceive
or mislead recipients" about the origin of a
commercial email.

3) Prohibits "harvesting," "dictionary attacks"
and "spoofing."

unsubscribe process.

5) Prohibits automated methods to sign up for

Carelessness Means Lost Dollars $

"Haste makes waste." My grandmother always said that to me growing up and there are times now I still don't follow her advice! Just as lots of people I interact with hastily go along doing things that hurts their business and/or life!
 
Here are some of the things I have found from all the ads submitted to me for publishing that I'm sure were put together in haste Carelessly!
 
Incorrect Email Addresses
 
Big Problem...In dealing with hundreds of email subscribers each week I find one problem threaded throughout the process. That is Carelessness! Every day I have a great number of emails returned from people who have requested to be added to my subscriber base but confirmations are returned because they have failed to take the time to enter their email accurately. I am sure some probably forget that they subscribed almost as fast as they subscribed, but the rest wanted Natural Environmental Health Facts or Your Home Business Coach ezine, but because of their haste or carelessness, will never see it and probably think I am a flake! This error set up my list server to return 5 to 10 confirmations a day, with "invalid email address or NULL!" When added up that comes to 30 to 70 people a week who are missing $$, referrals, customers/clients/services and/or information.
 
Carelessness in something so simple as entering an email address wrong can cost your business dollars $$.
 
First loss; No answer to your ad in ANEHF or YHBC or any other ezine/newsletter you submit to.
 
Second loss, means possible loss of sales/customers/clients while a carelessly submitted ad wastes your time and effort as you will never see a response!
 
Third loss outside of ads, If you are placing an order for a product or service and you fail to receive it you are going to think that company is a flaky company! Right. Maybe it's your carelessness and not the company! Take care in all transmissions!
 
Incorrect URL's
 
Another BIG problem; I have clicked on so many that go nowhere and usually all for the lack of a letter, number or just a period at the end that changes the URL. Because the Internet is such a big place and so many places to visit, people will not try to figure out what is wrong with the site. Result being a loss of customer/service/client! (remember - not all people have newer browser programs and cannot click on it get to a URL unless it includes the http:// in front of the www.) Write your ads to old and new browsers!
 
I cannot check every ad that is submitted to me so it goes in (copy & paste), just as it is submitted. Incorrect URL problem can be easily prevented by always making sure your URL is working before you hit send. When I write an article or ad I copy and paste the URL from my ad or article to my browser to confirm that it works correctly before submitting it. I too started out very careless in business online and placed ads, both paid and free with no results as the links went nowhere and I only discovered it when I received the publication, too late to do anything about it. But learned my lesson years ago. An email address or URL will look correct, only when put into the browser an error code pops up then will you know you've goofed. Simple moment of time that costs hundreds maybe thousands of dollars $$$$ to your business. If nobody sees your website because of a non-functioning URL you've wasted your time and if you paid to advertise, lost even more money!
 
Moral is; check your email address and URLs before hitting send!
