I
hit a milestone today - the big 70th birthday! Now it
doesn't seem like 70, but I'm told by those much older, that
it never does. I figure it's only a number so I'm not
working myself up over a silly birthday of this magnitude
but I do honor the fact I made it this far and take no
prescription drugs and feel 25, have a going home business
that I can be proud of helping others get healthy. I must give credit for reaching this
age and staying healthy because of the health habits I've
practiced over the last 30 years. Will you be able to say
you are healthy and feel great when you are 70? If not it's
time to build some health habits that will make it possible
to say that then you can build a business that you can be
proud of! I'm more than happy to help you chart that path!

Top 10 Networking Tips To Get More
Customers

Networking is a great way to meet people in a
"non-selling" setting. So, don't sell. Meet and greet.
Ask people about their businesses. Be friendly and
relaxed. Enjoy yourself. Get to know people. Above all,
do not sell.
If and when someone appears to meet your target
criteria, ask for their business card. Then follow up
with them later to see if there might be a fit.
Here are some ideas to help you get the most from your
networking:
1. Set a time budget each week or month for your
networking. Plan to attend a specific number of meetings
or events at which you can network. Make sure your other
tasks and responsibilities fit around these meetings.
It's best to balance networking with your other lead
generating activities. This way you can measure the
value of your networking leads against the time spent
acquiring them.
2. Pick networking opportunities that put you face to
face with people most likely to need what you offer. Or
try to meet people who can connect you with people who
need what you offer. Both are good prospects.
3. Understand why you're there - to begin relationships
- not to sell. Networking is the first step in a long
dance. Don't rush.
4. Don't give your cards to everyone. Save your money
and some trees. Hand out your card only to people who
ask for it.
5. Ask people questions. Learn about them and their
business. This is how you pre-qualify them. If they meet
your target criteria ask for their card. If not, don't.
6. Don't sell yourself. It's okay to tell people what
you do. Give your "30 second commercial" but stop after
that. You're there to gather information and to meet
people, not to sell.
7. People love people who are interested in them. Ask
questions, listen and engage people. This is the fastest
way to develop rapport with someone. It's also the best
way to determine quickly if they're someone you should
be doing business with.
8. Have fun, relax and enjoy yourself. People like being
around people who are relaxed and having fun.
9. Don't corner people and don't get cornered. Manage
your time and conversation so you can meet enough people
to justify your time spent networking.
10. Offer referrals. The best way to begin a
relationship is by giving someone something - like a
referral. It doesn't cost you anything. If they're the
kind of person you want to do business with, they'll
reciprocate and a valuable, long-term business
relationship could develop.
Networking is a time-honored way of developing business
relationships. It can be done in networking groups or
clubs. It can be done through Chambers of Commerce. It
can be done anywhere you meet people. If you are active
in your community or industry, you can easily network.
Some people "network" while shopping for groceries!
It all depends on your attitude and your focus. The more
people you meet who might need your product or service,
the more potential customers you can have.

A KIND OF DEVOTION YOU'LL
NEVER REGRET
A true story comes from an incident which
occurred during a business training seminar. To illustrate
motivation, the trainer asked one of the business executives in
the audience to come forward.
The trainer said, "I want you to imagine that I have placed a
wooden beam across the floor here and I would like for you to
walk from one end of the beam to the other end. Would you do
that for $20?"
The man said that he would.
Then leader continued, "Now, I want you to imagine that I take
that same beam and raise it up to the top of a forty-story
building and run it across the street to another tall building.
Would you still walk across the beam for $20?"
This time the man answered that he would not.
"How about for a $100?"
"No!" the man emphasized.
The trainer forged ahead. "You have a child, right?"
"Yes."
"This time, what if I were to hold your child over the edge of
the building and tell you that if you do not walk across the
beam I will drop your child. Would you walk across?"
Surprisingly, the father hesitated for a beat, then smiled and
asked, "Which child do you have?"
The trainer, of course, was right in assuming that a parent's
devotion to a child is usually greater than almost any amount of
fear associated with saving that child. Most parents love their
children fiercely and would do anything possible to help them.
An eastern newspaper reported that a train in Bangladesh
accidentally struck a calf elephant. The mother elephant
apparently became upset over the incident, for a little while
later another train came along and spotted the female standing
in the middle of the track. Though the engineer blasted his
horn, she would not budge. When the train came to a halt, she
began butting it with her head! For fifteen minutes she hammered
the engine, rendering it inoperable. Once satisfied, she walked
off into the jungle, stranding two hundred passengers for five
hours while they waited for a replacement engine. Don't mess
with her children!
Devotion to our own children is essential. Here are some ways we
can channel our devotion into productive areas.
1. Devote TIME to your child. Quality time means nothing if it
rarely occurs. Spend time reading, laughing, playing, exploring,
learning, talking, and just sitting quietly together.
2. Devote POSITIVE ATTENTION to your child. Let her know she is
important by the way you speak and listen to her.
3. Devote LOVE to your child. He is one of the most important
people you'll ever have the privilege of knowing.
4. Devote ENERGY to learning how to be the best parent possible.
All of our children are different and require different skills
from us.
5. Devote YOURSELF, and you'll never regret the valuable
investment.
