is driving me nuts at times. Friday I
received 5,225 spam emails and Saturday
was 3,085 so if you have written me and
did not receive an answer please resend,
as it could have gotten lost in the spam,
as my filters do not always read the
exact junk and one word can sometimes
put a desirable email into a spam box
and it will get deleted...
Do what you must to succeed today. As
long as it's honest, fulfilling, doesn't
cause anyone else pain or discomfort and
worthwhile!

Market Your Way to
Professional Success
It's never too early to start saying
thanks to your clients, vendors and
referral sources for what they
contribute to your business or practice.
Everyone loves to be appreciated and
acknowledged, so start now and do
something every month.
Keep in contact with your clients and
vendors by sending articles you have
written or that would be of interest to
them. Add a little "How are you?" note
to these people and keep the lines of
communication open. Include current
information about any new value-added
products or services, such as a
newsletter, or tele-class you will be
presenting.
Marketing your way to success doesn't
have to be expensive. You just have to
do it.
Communication and relationship are the
keys to marketing. Attending numerous
networking meetings may be worthwhile to
some, but that strategy doesn't work for
everyone because, as someone once told
me, the people who love you will always
refer business to you.
Create a list of Advocates, or
supporters, who will think of you first
when it comes time for your special area
of expertise. This list could be up to,
but certainly no more than, twenty-five
people.
You could also have a separate
organizational list, such as companies
where there is more than one person you
know.
The people who are your Advocates or
supporters are the ones who require
nurturing. Send them an e-mail, e-zine,
note, or article at least once a month.
Create an external management team to
help you achieve your success. This
could include your attorney, your own
mentor or consultant, your accountant
and other like minded people who you can
trust. This is the key, peopple you
trust to tell you're the truth
Gather your external management teams in
an informal meeting
such as breakfast or lunch. Advise them
of your upcoming plans, get feedback and
give acknowledgement for all their
support and advice.
Check in with former clients to see how
they are doing. Be willing to provide
free information to these people.
Generosity is its own reward. If you
keep a timer on your desk, you can be
sure of keeping the conversation brief
as well as focused. Then, send them more
information. Follow up in about two
weeks to see how the seeds of your
generosity have blossomed.
Information is available to everyone,
through the internet, magazines and
newspapers. Only you can provide
customized data to your clients that
will be appreciated as well as
remembered.
Review your brochures, marketing
letters, and newsletters in a new light.
Does this information speak to your
"Ideal Client"? Do you know who your
"Ideal Client" is? Redefine these
documents as needed after you have
thoroughly defined this client. Give
these documents to your management team
and get their feedback.
Does your collateral material speak to
what you do?
Is the information clear or does it
require interpretation? Spend time on
this now and review it every ninety
days.
If the cost of a new brochure is
prohibitive, or if
you think your business will be adding
more products or services in the near
future, create an Information Letter.
With this type of document, you can
update your Advocate groups as well as
former and potential clients. Again,
it's not costly and serves a specific
purpose.
This letter can include updates on your
particular industry or market. You also
can advise them of your continuing
education and how it will benefit them.
About those referral sources, they
deserve a little extra
attention. Remember, they thought of you
first! Consider
seasonal flowers, plants, a book or a
special card.
You want them to keep remembering you!
Nurture all these
relationships and your business will
grow and glow.

Going The Extra Mile

Going the extra mile turns losers into
winners, and winners into
champions. And you will need good old
fashioned commitment to see it through.
The goal is only the beginning. Don’t
let “microwave mentality” fool you. To
reach any goal will take true commitment
and -- I know this will come as a big
surprise to a lot of you -- NOT even to
the ultimate goal, but to what you are
doing right now today.
Commitment starts with what you’re doing
right now.
“I am committed to losing 20 lbs.” First
you have to be
committed to losing 1 lb.
“I am committed to being debt free”.
First you have to be
committed to not acquiring any more
debt.
“I am committed to finding some free
time.” First you have to
be committed to saying No.
Commitment helps you state a direction,
intent, purpose. It
helps you announce to yourself and the
world how you will devote your time,
attention, energy, money, effort.
Assuming commitment is easier said than
done -- and we all know it is -- how do
you create commitment?
Conscious choice creates commitment --
or more specifically,
conscious choice creates TRUE
commitment.
Whether you intend to or not, you ARE
committed to some things in your life.
You may be committed to a job you hate.
You may be committed to a relationship
that’s unsatisfying. You may be
committed to sitting in front of the TV
or surfing the net every night. You may
be committed to accumulating the clutter
in your office or house. You may be
committed to overspending every month.
Going that extra mile -- true commitment
-- however is made
through Conscious Choice. For example,
let’s say you have $100 extra dollars in
your budget. If you have committed to
reducing your debt, you would apply it
to a bill. If you are committed to
improving your health, you would spend
it on a dentist appointment, or a
session with a personal trainer or
nutritionist.
Commitment works through Conscious
Choice.
If you have not consciously committed to
anything specific, even though you want
to reduce your debt or get healthier,
you spend the money “here and there”,
and experience no real benefit from it.
When you go the extra mile, you fully
commit your time, your money, or your
energy in a specific, mindful way.
Without commitment, you just “waste”
your time, your money, and your energy
on things that are not meaningful and
don’t fulfill and regenerate and uplift
you,
Life will constantly test your
commitment to your goals. But
the reality is -- as simple as this may
sound -- it is the one
ingredient that separates the winners
from the losers. The one
thing that people who are getting what
they want, and people who aren't is that
they kept moving. They stayed committed
to
moving forward on their goal every
single day.
Make a commitment to wake-up and
consciously choose how you spend your
time, energy, money, and effort. Think
about your day. Think about your week.
What do you do with all those hours?
What are doing with your day that is
contributing your goal? What are you
doing with your day that is
contaminating your goal?
Consistently commit your time, energy,
money, effort, support,
and opportunities to something that’s
important to you. It’s
impossible not to win.
