Greetings and thank you for being an

I am totally
flabbergasted that September is gone, glad but still so fast
I think I missed most of it with all the disasters happening
around me. At the moment my sites are accessible, my ISP
isn't having any problem to pass on to me and no gross
viruses for almost a week and no other family members have
reported terminal illness in the last week... That's progress, but October is
here and I'm wasn't ready for it... Got caught unaware this
month and will have to work harder to catch up... At least
today's coaches are on the ball with information for you so
take it and run...
Do what you must to be successful as
long as it's honest, something you enjoy and doesn't hurt
anyone.

Credibility
Search engines love web sites with keyword rich copy. In
other words, if your site title says your site is about
cats, search engines want to see "cat" a lot on your page.
It does no good simply to list "cats" over and over: "cats,
cats, cats, cats." That's an old trick called keyword
spamming. Search engine computers count off for that.
Instead, search engines like when you work your keywords and
keyword phrases into logical sentences. You get extra credit
if you can work these phrases into the first part of your
opening page.

According to the security firm Symantec, online
criminals are increasingly turning to Web
applications--rather than e-mail--and are motivated more
by money than by bragging rights.
In the early days of the Internet, many hackers engaged
in such activities purely for the challenge or for the
notoriety of successfully bypassing security measures.
Today's hackers, according to Symantec, are after credit
card numbers, Social Security numbers, and other
information they can use to steal money from victims.
Targeted attacks--as compared to viruses and other
randomly circulated malicious code--are increasingly
directed at financial institutions, jumping from just 4
percent in the last six months of 2005 to 14 percent in
the first six months of 2006. The result is a potential
loss of confidence in online commerce and banking.
Hackers are also spending more efforts targeting Web
applications, given the growing numbers of
vulnerabilities discovered in browsers, including
Microsoft's Internet Explorer, Mozilla's Firefox, and
Apple's Safari.

Is anybody making money on the
web?
Every day the unsuspecting queue up and plop down their hard
earned cash only to find that 15 million people really
aren't interested in buying their program. So where are they
going wrong?
"One tenth of one percent of those who see your ad", claim
the hucksters, "could bring you hundreds of thousands of
dollars". With impressive graphs showing income at each
level, and dreams of stretching out on a beach in Tahiti,
they are hooked.
A cursory examination of the web will reveal numerous
programs that consist primarily of people trying to sell
something that they got hooked on. Basically they are trying
to recover their money by finding other suckers who are just
as dumb as they were.
Are there good programs on the web? Sure, but for goodness
sake, use some common sense. Just because it is on the web
doesn't make it an automatic money generator. You have to
have a product, service or opportunity that will pass the
basic credibility test. If people don't think it is a good
deal, they will simply "click away".
Unless you have very deep pockets, like the big guys, forget
the national rollouts. These guys sink millions in their web
sites, and for every one that succeeds, ten fail - and these
guys have deep pockets. If you can't afford to open a
Wal-Mart as a traditional business, what makes you think you
can compete with them on the web? They have advertisements
for their web site on prime time TV, in magazines and during
the summer, on banners towed behind airplanes.
But there are people making money - they have found their
"niche market". So what is your niche? Is there something
that you know a lot about, or can you produce a product of
interest.
If you want to make a living on the internet, you must find
your niche. How about informational products? These cost
little to produce and can be a profitable enterprise. While
it helps if you have some writing ability, there are plenty
of others who do, and might be amenable to bundling their
products for you to sell.
One of the things that always frustrates someone who does
have a product, is the lack of time to sell it. Why not
approach a few people who do have a good product, and offer
to have them represent them for a piece of the action?
Someone who has an existing "mall" might be a good
candidate. Since you will be controlling the delivery of
the "goods", it will be pretty hard for them "beat" you out
of the money due.
Everyday someone tries to sell me something. If I get two or
three offers from them in a row, I immediately create a
filter in my email program to automatically transfer them to
"Trash". Once the "junk" is weeded out (you know, the people
shooting for 15 million) I do actually read some. I have
read interesting offers and bought as a result of getting
them. But the offers read, and ultimately purchased from,
were in (you guessed it) a niche market. There are people
selling things on the web that are not readily available
anyplace else.
Finding a niche is key on the "net". Those that do, with
reasonable advertising, can carve out their niche, and enjoy
the benefits. Those that don't, will either continue to cast
about looking for a winner, or as is the case with most,
write it off as a bad experience.
