Starting a successful website in today's fast-paced
internet world can be intimidating to say the least. Not
only are you dealing with the stresses of having to
design your site for content and relevance, you're also
worrying about how you're going to get all this valuable
information to your customers. As I am dealing with
these very issues as I type, I wanted to share some of
the information I have accumulated to help you in the
beginning stages of your website development.
There are many strategies for marketing your website
business. Some cost money and others cost time. Which is
more valuable to you? Most might say time but, if
they're anything like me, they waste more time watching
television or playing video games everyday than a lot of
successful internet business marketers spend promoting
their websites. With that said, I'd like to focus on the
efforts that cost little to no money and basically only
cost you a little time and effort.
Articles - Writing articles is a great way to promote
your home based business or website. All you have to do
is pick something that's relevant to your site and talk
about it. How hard could that be? Article writing can be
a major plus to your online business because you can
submit them to directories all over the internet and
have virtually an unlimited audience. These viewers
read all your wonderful information and instantly have a
mental picture of what your website has to offer. Plus,
having articles published also establishes links back to
your website which can increase your page rank in search
engines such as Google™
and Yahoo™.
It's hard to put a price on that.
Linking - Establishing links back to your website
business is a must do item. There are many link
directories that are willing to place a link to your
site. Some will place one-way links to your page (where
the directory links to you but you don't link back to
them) and others will require that you provide a
reciprocal link back to their directory. Either way,
having links back to you will be one of the best ways to
start building that elusive page rank that all
webmasters dream about. You could simply do a search on
Google? for link directories and sift out the sites that
charge money. In addition to directories, you could also
exchange links with other websites that offer products
that are similar to yours. Most of the sites that you
contact will be willing to exchange links with you
because it also helps them expand on their incoming
links.
Forums - The last thing I wanted to mention is forums.
Joining forums can be very insightful for the dos and
don'ts for promoting your website. If you pick a forum
that deals with your market then you will have a wide
variety of information at your fingertips that it may
have taken your competitors months or even years to find
it just didn't work. You can take advice, ask questions
and also build a reputation as a knowledgeable resource
for your online community. A lot of forums allow you to
place a link back to your business in your post
signature providing even more exposure for you. Not to
mention, many of the members in the forum would be the
exact type of partners you would want to link back to
your site.
These are just a few of the many ways that you can
market your internet business. Writing articles, linking
to directories and other partners and participating in
forums are all cost effective ways to build your
exposure. With your only loss being time and a little
sweat, I think you'll manage just fine. Thanks for

Internet Marketing: The Double Whammy

Internet marketing is full of great ways to advertise your
website, and many of them are free. But the thing is...
Internet marketing people overlook one way that can be very,
very powerful, especially if you take it to the next level.
What am I talking about? Ezine advertising.
Probably the very first thing you think of when you hear "ezine"
is paid advertising, and that's a really great way to get
traffic and sales. Ezines are niche oriented, so your
audience is highly targeted and the traffic is bound to
convert. Just be sure to write a great headline. In fact,
write 10. Choose the best of them and polish and tweak them,
until they're killer or they won't pull people into your ad.
When you write the body of your ad, it will probably be only
2 to 3 sentences long, but follow the ezine's guidelines.
Here's what to do... Give people incomplete information, as
Jimmy D. Brown suggests. Make them curious so that they go
to your website for more information.
Be careful when choosing the ezine, too. Check each one you
plan to advertise in out and see if it's going to be right
for your ad, and also notice where the ads are placed. If
they're at the bottom of the page, forget it. The best place
is "above the fold," which is on the page before the reader
has to scroll down, be it web page or email. The best place
is in the upper left-hand corner of the page, which is where
most people's eyeballs land first. Don't use an ezine where
your ad is smashed in with a bunch of other ads or when it's
going to appear at the bottom of the page, especially if it
will sit in the lower right-hand corner. Your ad probably
won't be seen by many people there.
To make this really powerful, also submit an article to the
ezine, and if you can, do it at the same time, can you see
how powerful that will be? Internet marketing is kind to
non-writers. Just do your best. You don't have to be a
grammar genius, but you should make sure everything is
spelled properly. And don't trust the spell checker. They
don't catch homonyms, for instance, like "to" and "too." It
won't know if you hit the wrong key, either and typed "and"
instead of "an."
You can really make the most of ezine advertising if you go
to them with this two-pronged approach, and you'll get the
biggest bang for your Internet marketing buck. You're
already gaining "expert" status just by having the article
placed, so when people see your ad, too, they'll take better
notice, if you gave them some kick-butt info in your
article. But it's the same with this as with any other
Internet marketing advertising, test and track and see which
ezines are the best for your particular Internet marketing
business.
