This week has continued with an abundance of spam
from those who think they can succeed by using other peoples
names and email addresses fraudulently. It doesn't work.
It's beginning to look like I am going to have to do away
with a couple of email addresses in order to stop my email
program from being filled with thousands of useless email...
That's sometimes the problem with being in business for so
many years on the Internet. Not sufficient reason to stop
though. So "if someone uses you don't give them control over
your life, continue on". My motto!
Today is my rest day but I have an abundance of offers that I
want to make sure gets out to my readers, hence the reason for

What's your Selling Sentence?

What's your Selling Sentence? If you have a
business, you need a selling sentence.
Sometimes called the Defining Sentence or the
Secondary Statement, the Selling Sentence is the
group of words that clarify and refine the
nature of your business when seen or heard with
the name or logo of your business. You tell
`em
what you do for them' with your Selling Sentence.
The Selling Sentence clearly differentiates your
business in the eyes of your current and potential
customers or clients. "When it absolutely,
positively, has to be there overnight" reinforces
the FedEx brand.
McDonald's has used Selling Sentences for
individual products. "Two all beef patties,
special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on
a sesame seed bun"
Selling Sentences are similar to Unique Selling
Propositions, or USPs. But they differ because
that they are more focused and are presented in
one sentence or less. USPs can be much longer,
resembling a mission statement.
Develop your own Selling Sentence to be displayed
under the business name or logo. If it won't fit
there, it is too long. The Selling Sentence should
appear in the same spot every time the name of the
business or logo is displayed: newspaper ads,
store signs, yellow pages, business cards.
Everywhere the logo goes, so goes the Selling
Sentence.
Look at the big boys. Lots of Selling Sentences,
some short enough to be called Selling Statements.
All fit under the business name.
A Selling Sentence is extremely important if your
business name does not reflect on the nature of
the business or the product. FedEx was shortened
from Federal Express, both of which mildly suggest
package handling. Since the Selling Sentence
accompanied all references, we all know FedEx is a
package delivery service.
Murray's Plumbing would not need a Selling
Sentence to clarify the nature of the business,
but rather one to set it apart from hundreds of
competitors.

We show up on time and smell
good or your don't pay!
Now Murray and his people must maintain the
Selling Sentence by keeping the promise. FedEx
says over 99% of packages get there overnight. The
Selling Sentence should not change unless you
intend to re-brand the business, so get it right
from the get-go.
Convene your own brain trust of employees and
friends and peers for a free association session.
List what can be said about your business in one
sentence. Emphasize your biggest customer benefit.
Write them all down, no matter how goofy. With the
group, trim the list to 10 before you bring out
the refreshments. Sleep on it and make a final
decision the next morning.

How to Give Yourself a Motivational Warm
Up When You Wake Up!

What is the worst thing you can do when you start your day?
Wake up feeling lethargic and expect yourself to perform at
100% from the moment you get up in the morning. And then
compare how you are doing during the day against this
unrealistic benchmark.
There is a better way!
As you wake up in the morning take charge of your thoughts
in that early morning awareness before you fully awake.
Do this before you get up out of bed by repeating some
affirmations. Affirmations work very well WHEN you say them
with strong feelings in a state of deep relaxation.
If you have heard about affirmations before and never got
the maximum benefit from them it is because you did not
know how to take a very ordinary approach and supercharge
it.
Supercharging affirmations depends on four factors:
- Phrasing affirmations in the right way
- Choosing ones that are right for you
- saying them while in a state of deep relaxation
- saying them with strong feelings
When you use affirmations correctly their impact will last
for at least a few hours - long enough to get you started
on the day ahead.
Pay close attention now because I am going to reveal details
of some of my personal and very private habits...
I use the following affirmations to help me get up in a
positive state of mind:
- Positive thoughts bring me the benefits I desire
- Negative thoughts have no influence over me
- Everyday and in everyway I am getting better and better
You can do the same.
Remember to say these affirmations with feeling and do so
quietly inside your head while in that relaxed awakening
state.
Unless I use this ritual each morning I tend to feel
negative about the day ahead. The difference from feeling
negative to feeling positive is huge for the sake of those
few minutes in the morning.
You can also go one step further and imagine the day ahead
working out well. See yourself doing your best and easily
dealing with challenges.
Imagine you will have a great day in this way and you are
directing your unconscious to make it happen in the language
it understands best - feelings and images.
Forget about will power.
Will power is a waste of time because its like talking to
the most powerful part of your mind in a language it does
not understand.
